We understand that there is legitimate concern about screen time for very young children, but here’s the difference: YOU!
With Music Together Online, the active participation of the parent or caregiver is key. This is a very different experience for the child than staring at a screen and passively receiving information or entertainment.
Here's how it works:
If the adults are having a good time interacting with the teacher and the activities, the kids will come along in their own time, even if they are on the other side of the room, hiding behind the sofa, or looking at the ceiling during class time! The kids are usually responding to *you*, not the screen. So don't worry if your child is not engaged with the screen. That's fine! The kids are taking their cues from their parents or caregivers. The active engagement of the adult during class is what stimulates the kids’ musical play later in the day and the week. And it's a fun break for you as well in your day!
This is actually exactly the same learning process as in our in-person classes – in our classrooms the kids are busy crawling around or looking out the window, or hiding in the corner, etc. as much or more than they are looking at the teacher or actively “participating” in the class. Then they go home and "practice" there!
With Music Together Online, the active participation of the parent or caregiver is key. This is a very different experience for your child than staring at a screen and passively receiving information or entertainment.
Just like in our in-person classes, YOU'RE still the most important part! Your teacher will be on the screen, but it is truly the interaction of YOU with the child that is going to continue their music development!
Just as in our in-person classes, we don't expect your child to sit still or "pay attention" to what's on the screen.
If the adults keep making music with the teacher on the screen, and have a good time, your child will soak in the experience in their own way, in their own time, and show you later what they have been taking in. We'll giving you lots of fun activities, ideas, and songs to inspire musical play at home all day long.
